India-Made vs CKD Import: What’s the Difference?

While the international-spec Kawasaki KLX 230R S continues to be available in India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit priced at Rs 5.21 lakh, the locally manufactured version offers a more affordable alternative. The imported model features a lightweight aluminium frame and swingarm, whereas the India-made variant uses a high-tensile steel chassis to keep costs in check.

Despite being 14 kg heavier than its imported sibling, the India-made KLX 230R S retains Kawasaki’s signature KX-inspired styling and delivers robust off-road performance at a fraction of the price.

Built for the Trail, Not the Street

This motorcycle is engineered for serious off-road action. With long-travel suspension, high ground clearance, and aggressive knobby tyres, the Kawasaki KLX 230R S is ideal for trail riding, dirt tracks, and competitive motocross circuits. Its non-street-legal status means it’s best suited for enthusiasts who ride in controlled environments or private tracks.
