Yamaha FZ Blue Flex, India’s first flex-fuel FZ bike compatible with E20–E85 blends, is priced at ₹1.24 lakh.
Yamaha has officially entered India’s flex-fuel motorcycle space with the launch of the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex, priced at ₹1.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the brand’s first flex-fuel variant in the popular FZ lineup, capable of running on ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. With this move, Yamaha joins Suzuki and Hero in embracing alternative fuel technology, signaling a shift toward greener mobility solutions.

At the heart of the FZ Blue Flex is the familiar 149cc air-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, now modified to handle higher ethanol blends. While performance figures see a slight dip compared to the standard FZ—11.7hp at 7,250rpm and 12.8Nm at 6,000rpm—the trade-off is expected, given ethanol’s lower energy density.

Design-wise, the Blue Flex retains the FZ’s signature styling, including the LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank, faux air vents, and single-piece seat. The mechanical package continues with a 5-speed gearbox, telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, and single-channel ABS. However, ground clearance has been reduced to 135mm, and kerb weight has increased to 139kg, making it slightly heavier than the FZ Rave.
The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex will be available in a single Metallic Black color option, sold exclusively through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square dealerships across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Positioned mid-range within the nine-model FZ lineup, the Blue Flex offers a unique proposition for riders keen on eco-friendly commuting without compromising Yamaha’s trusted reliability.
