This sale eclipses last year’s record of USD 26 million for a one-off Daytona SP3, with the entire proceeds donated to the Ferrari Foundation after RM Sotheby’s waived the buyer’s premium. The winning bidder, American billionaire investor and Ferrari collector Herbert A. Wertheim, will take delivery in early 2027 after the car returns to Maranello for final assembly.

The Luce is not just Ferrari’s first electric car but also its first five-seat model. Powered by a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 1,050hp and 990Nm, it boasts a claimed top speed of 310kph and an impressive driving range of 530km. With Ferrari’s 2026 allocation already fully reserved, demand for this groundbreaking EV is undeniable.

What makes ‘Chassis 0’ truly unique is its bespoke design. Finished in a one-off Madreperla Semi-Gloss paint that shifts appearance with light, it features white five-spoke alloy wheels, custom brake calipers, and exclusive Ferrari badging. Inside, the cabin is adorned with Le Mans metallic leather in Perla and Grigio Corvara trim, designed to diffuse light and complement the car’s futuristic theme.

The final bid was more than 60 times the Luce’s starting price of EUR 550,000, underscoring its rarity and significance. Beyond its staggering value, the sale highlights Ferrari’s commitment to innovation and philanthropy, as the funds will support educational initiatives through the Ferrari Foundation.
