BMW i5 LWB launched in India at ₹79.60 lakh, offering 669 km range, premium features, and local assembly at the Chennai plant.

BMW has officially launched the all‑electric i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India, priced at ₹79.60 lakh (ex‑showroom). This marks a significant addition to BMW’s EV portfolio, positioned alongside the petrol‑powered 5 Series LWB.

The BMW i5 LWB arrives in the eDrive35L M Sport trim, powered by an 81.6 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed 669 km MIDC range. Performance figures stand at 264 bhp and 410 Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels. The sedan accelerates from 0‑100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 195 km/h.

Dimensionally, the i5 LWB stretches to a 3,105 mm wheelbase—110 mm longer than the standard i5—measuring 5,175 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height. It rides on 20‑inch alloys and features adaptive rear‑axle air suspension for enhanced comfort.

Inside, BMW equips the i5 LWB with a curved display setup combining a 12.3‑inch digital cluster and a 14.9‑inch touchscreen. Premium touches include LED headlights, powered front seats, a panoramic glass roof with ambient lighting, multi‑zone climate control, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and a 360‑degree camera.

The First Edition variant, limited to 99 units, sold out quickly. It featured exclusive Carbon Black Metallic paint, titanium bronze detailing, open‑pore wood trim, and a rear‑seat entertainment package. Notably, BMW assembles the i5 LWB locally at its Chennai plant, making it the second EV after the iX1 LWB to be produced in India.
