Tesla kicks off its India debut with the launch of the Tesla Model Y. The RWD-only EV will begin deliveries in Q3 2025.
Tesla has finally rolled into the Indian automotive landscape with the much-anticipated Tesla Model Y electric SUV. Officially launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 59.89 lakh, this marks Tesla’s maiden retail presence in the country through its first outlet at Maker Maxity in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the showroom, calling it a milestone for India’s EV push.
The booking amount is Rs 22,220, with an additional Rs 3 lakh due within a week of reserving. The delivery time for the Standard Range model is expected to start in the third quarter of 2025, while the Long-Range version will be available from the fourth quarter of 2025. Only fully imported units, or CBU models, will be available for purchase.

Both versions come equipped with a facelifted design, codenamed Juniper, offering a refined exterior and enhanced features.

Tesla Model Y: Technical Highlights
The vehicle measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,982 mm wide, and stands 1,624 mm tall. It has a ground clearance of 167 mm. Charging is quick—up to 250 kW—adding approximately 267 km of range in just 15 minutes. The wheels are 19-inch alloy rims. Inside, there are two touchscreens: a 15.4-inch display at the front and an 8-inch screen at the rear.
Model Y is offered in six exterior shades, with Stealth Grey as the standard choice. Premium paint options like Ultra Red and Quicksilver come at an additional cost of Rs 1.85 lakh. A beige-black interior scheme adds another Rs 95,000 to the price.

Advanced Features & Safety Tech
Full-Self Driving (FSD) is optional and costs Rs 6 lakh. It currently requires the driver to stay alert and supervise the system. Safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot alerts, and lane departure avoidance. The camera system has eight cameras, with one facing forward. The pre-facelift model received a five-star rating from Euro NCAP.
The vehicle features heated and ventilated powered front seats, along with heated rear seats, ensuring comfort for all occupants. It boasts a full panoramic glass roof, providing an expansive view. For audio, there’s a sound system with nine speakers. Additionally, the tailgate is electrically powered for convenient access.
