Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Recalled Globally Over Critical Engine Defect

Kawasaki issues global recall for 2024–2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R models over a critical engine defect. Over 17,800 bikes affected in the U.S.

Kawasaki has announced a global recall of its popular middleweight sports bike, the Ninja ZX-6R, due to a serious engine-related issue that could pose safety risks to riders. The recall affects select units manufactured in 2024 and 2025, with over 17,800 motorcycles impacted in the U.S. alone.

The problem comes from a manufacturing flaw with the crankshaft bolts. These bolts may have been tightened too much during assembly, which can cause less oil space around the crankshaft bearing. This leads to faster wear on engine parts and raises the chance of the engine locking up while riding. This flaw could cause the engine to fail suddenly, putting the rider and others on the road in danger.
