Powertrain and Performance

The new S 450e plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with a rear-mounted electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack. Together, they deliver 435hp and 680Nm of torque, channeled through a 9-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. Mercedes claims an impressive electric-only range of up to 115km, a 0-100kph sprint in 5.7 seconds, and efficiency figures of 32.2kmpl (WLTP cycle). Fast charging from 10–80% is possible in just 20 minutes using a 60kW charger.

Exterior Updates

While the silhouette remains familiar, the facelift introduces a larger chrome-detailed grille with illuminated surrounds, striking ‘Digital Light’ LED headlamps featuring star-shaped graphics, and dynamic LED tail-lamps with animated motifs. Redesigned bumpers, fresh alloy wheel designs, and expanded paint options further elevate the S-Class’s road presence.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the cabin has been reimagined with a tech-forward layout. The India-spec long-wheelbase version ensures generous rear-seat space, complemented by reclining “executive” rear seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Enhanced cabin insulation reduces NVH levels, while extended ambient lighting creates a serene atmosphere across multiple touchpoints.
