Tata Motors has officially launched its much-anticipated Harrier EV, priced at Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, Tata Motors reclaims its position in the electric SUV segment, bringing back all-wheel drive (AWD) capabilities to its portfolio after years of absence. The launch is set to shake up India’s EV market as the brand continues to push for innovation in sustainable mobility. Bookings for the Tata Harrier EV will officially open on July 2, with deliveries expected to begin soon after.

The Harrier EV comes in three main trims: Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered. It is built on Tata’s new acti.ev plus platform. This model marks a big step for Tata’s electric cars. Unlike older EVs from Tata, the Harrier EV is a mid-size SUV that features all-wheel drive. Customers can choose between rear-wheel drive and quad-motor all-wheel drive options.

It also comes in four striking color choices, including Nainital Nocturnal, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Pristine White. Tata Motors has also introduced a Stealth Edition, which features a completely blacked-out exterior for a bold and aggressive look.

Tata Harrier EV: Design & Features

The Harrier EV keeps the same shape as its gas engine version but adds new design features for better efficiency. It has a closed grille to improve aerodynamics. The front bumper is redesigned with vertical satin silver slats to help cool the motor. The headlights are split and connected by daytime running lights. It now features 18-inch alloy wheels with a more aerodynamic look.

Inside, Tata has made big improvements. It now features a 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen for the infotainment system. The system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for easy phone connection. There is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that can display maps. A new rotary dial lets you choose from six terrain modes. These include Normal, Sand, Mud Ruts, Snow/Grass, Rock Crawl, and Custom.

Powertrain & Battery Pack

The Harrier EV comes with two options: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and Quad Wheel Drive (QWD). This marks an important step for India’s electric vehicle market. The basic RWD version has a 235-horsepower electric motor. The QWD model adds a second motor, giving it an extra 156 horsepower. Overall, it delivers 391 horsepower and 504 Nm of peak torque. The QWD can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. This makes it one of the quickest electric cars in India.

The Harrier EV has two battery options: 65 kWh and 75 kWh. Its official range is up to 627 km. In real-world driving, Tata says it can go between 480 and 505 km. This makes it practical for long trips. It also has a 120 kW DC fast charger. You can go from 20% to 80% in less than 25 minutes. This reduces downtime and makes the EV easier to use every day.
