Bajaj Dominar 400 Relaunched with Downsized 349cc Engine at Rs 2.04 Lakh

Bajaj Dominar 400 gets a 349cc engine, lighter weight, and a ₹37,000 price cut, making it a more affordable touring machine.

Bajaj has refreshed its flagship Dominar 400 with a downsized 349cc engine, relaunching it at an aggressive price of ₹2.04 lakh (ex-showroom). This move not only makes the motorcycle more affordable but also strategically places it in a lower tax bracket, resulting in a significant ₹37,000 reduction compared to the outgoing model.

The new Bajaj Dominar 400 retains its sporty character with a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 349cc motor. It produces 40.6hp at 9,000rpm and 33.2Nm at 7,500rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. While peak power has seen a slight bump of 0.6hp, torque has dropped by 1.8Nm compared to the earlier 373cc KTM-derived engine. Interestingly, the bike now delivers peak power at a higher rpm and torque later in the rev range, offering a slightly different riding feel.

Despite the mechanical changes, the Dominar 400 continues to carry the same muscular styling and touring-focused DNA. It is offered in two striking colour options – green and black. The feature list remains comprehensive, including dual-channel ABS, Bluetooth connectivity, and touring accessories. The kerb weight has also gone down by 3kg, now tipping the scales at 190kg, which should aid handling.

With its revised engine, lighter weight, and reduced price, the Bajaj Dominar 400 strengthens its appeal as a value-packed touring motorcycle. It continues to offer a balance of performance, features, and affordability, making it a strong contender in the midsize segment.
